Spring teaching

Positive Psychology is the science and practice of improving wellbeing. It began in 1998 as a rebellious discipline and social movement. Since, it’s had a large increase in research output and social impact and has gained attention from scientists, practitioners and the public.

On this module, you’ll explore its key ideas and experiment with its methods. Topics include:

  • happiness
  • wellbeing
  • positive emotions
  • optimism
  • strengths and virtues
  • mindfulness
  • positive relationships
  • stress
  • coping
  • resilience.

You’ll take an evidence-based, experimental and critical approach.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
