Autumn and spring teaching

The module will cover the preparation, completion and presenting of original research in a variety of forms, such as a written dissertation, research posters and oral presentations.

You will attend presentations from external speakers during regular departmental seminar talks. You’ll be further be supported during your research through formal and informal Principle Investigator/group meetings, as well as ad hoc training (such as the use of equipment and software).

You will acquire the skills needed to carry out your research, as well as generate and interpret results independently.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 900 hours of work. This breaks down into about 762 hours of contact time and about 138 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
