Digital Banking and FinTech (N1632)

Spring teaching

This module provides students with a valuable understanding of the digital and open banking landscape along with providing the practical skills necessary to prepare reports, analyse banking performance in this new challenging ecosystem. Drawing on practical examples and theories, this module grants the students to develop key management skills and tools to further contribute to the industry.

This module has three parts. First, it presents an overview of the diverse banking digital transformation models and further analyses the market’s development through partnerships with FinTech industry.

Secondly, this module focus on investigating banking performance by preparing practical business oriented reports, and looks into aspects such as asset and liability management, liquidity management and capital adequacy management.

Thirdly this module will cover emerging technologies (Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Real-Time Payments etc.), and analyses key aspects of the relevant regulations of the regulatory frameworks (PSD2, GDPR, Open Banking, MiFID, etc,)

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 120 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
