Disability support scheme

Students with a disability can apply for a £500 bursary and get one to one supervision with a fitness instructor.

About the scheme

Sussex Sport offer up to six bursaries of £500 each year to provide students with a disability access to our fitness rooms and one to one supervision with a qualified fitness instructor. This is supported by the Sussex Fund and the University of Sussex Alumni Team and via the Disability Support Team. The bursary is there to provide support to individuals who wouldn't be able to use the facilities or the fitness spaces safely.

If you are interested in this support, please contact the Disability Advice Team. If you are interested in receiving a bursary please make this clear in the comment box on the registration form.

Discussing your needs

Once you are registered with the disability support team, you will meet with a member of Sussex Sport to discuss your individual needs, requirements and interests. Potential areas of discussion beyond one to one support can also include:

Accessing buildings and information

You can use the website AccessAble to find out how to access our buildings if, for instance, you are using a wheelchair or walking aid. Access information for the Sport Centre and Falmer Sports Complex is available from their site, but please contact us with any queries you may have.
