PUBLIC LIVES, PRIVATE LIVES: NEW RESEARCH ACROSS THE DISCIPLINES

The Second Annual Post-Graduate Research Conference Co-organised by the
Centre for Research in Memory, Narrative and Histories, University of
Brighton and the Centre for Life History and Life Writing, University of
Sussex
CALL FOR PAPERS
Following our successful post-graduate conference in 2009, we are
organising a second conference to enable post graduate students working on
public and private lives across a range of disciplines to meet and discuss
their work.
Papers of 20 minutes in length are invited alongside presentations which
take a different form, e.g. film making, photography, drama. Presentations
are invited from Doctoral students, early career researchers and Masters
students. Researchers from across the disciplines are welcome. Areas of
research might include (but are not limited to):
" Autobiographical writing across different media (diaries, books, internet)
" Life History and Oral History Research
" Public and private memorials and acts of commemoration
" Photography and its relationship to the public and the private
" Gender, sexuality, race: the public and the private
" Concepts of public and private space
" Archival and methodological navigations of public and private
If you are interested in participating, please send an abstract of your
proposed presentation, of no more than 200 words, by 26th March 2010 to:

There is a small fee of £10 for attending the conference. This includes
refreshments during the day but delegates should expect to provide their
own lunch.
