Biography

Maruf Farhan is a Lecturer in Computing and Cybersecurity at the University of Sussex International Study Centre, specialising in teaching, curriculum development, and student support across Foundation, International Year 1, and Pre-Master’s programmes. With over six years of experience in academia and industry, he is passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment, designing authentic assessments, and facilitating student engagement in STEM disciplines. Maruf holds an MSc in Cybersecurity (with Distinction) from Northumbria University, where his research focused on blockchain technology applications in fraud detection. He brings practical expertise in programming (Python, Solidity), cybersecurity (ethical hacking, risk management, penetration testing), and managing assessments within higher education. Actively engaged in research and professional development, Maruf has contributed to publications, attended major conferences, and is currently completing the AFHEA programme at Sussex. His teaching philosophy centres on combining real-world industry trends with evidence-based pedagogy to inspire and equip diverse international learners for academic and professional success.
