Research
This research involves a critical examination of how numbers are used to reform gender equality within UK major infrastructure projects. The researcher seeks to interpret the story behind the numbers. The Ph.D. is composed of three synergistic articles addressing the overarching research question: How are gender equality measures being used to change UK major infrastructure projects? Each article has been allocated a separate case study. Using a problem-driven transdisciplinary approach, the research creates an ongoing dialogue with key industry practitioners, enabling collaboration as they take on roles as informants, co-producers and consultants. In this way, the researcher guides an iterative (re)negotiation of the research problem. Thematic analysis will be used as an overarching methodology, with theoretical influence taken from both institutional theory and theory on the sociology of quantification.
