Partner highlight: Mahidol University Thailand

Mahidol University is one of Sussex’s strongest partners in South East Asia. Our partnership includes dual degrees in Life Sciences.

See a blog about one of the recent graduates.

Students from Mahidol have also participated in our International Junior Research Associate Scheme, with support from the Global partnerships over several years from 2016.

Collectively we run the Sussex-Mahidol Migration Partnership (SMMP), a collaboration led by SCMR at Sussex and the Mahidol Migration Centre in the Institute for Population and Social Research at Mahidol University.

The SMMP has also widened its research network, developing the Europe-Asia Migration Network by the end of 2015 to collaborate with partners such as The Peace Research Institute Oslo, The Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore, Humboldt University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The partnership also established a link with the Myanmar Migration Network in Bangkok, an NGO where Sussex students have also had placements.

Demonstrating the unique, ongoing and highly successful extent of the Sussex-Mahidol partnership and wider research network, members of the SMMP are currently part of an interdisciplinary collaborative research project between the UK and Thailand awarded a prestigious Natural Environment Research Council grant worth £450,000 in October 2018.
