Applied Skills in Chemistry (FND08)
15 credits, Level 3 (sub-degree)
Autumn teaching
This module prepares you for study on our Life Sciences degrees. You’ll develop practical skills in chemistry as well as problem solving, data handling, graphical techniques and interpretation.
You’ll participate in five practical laboratory sessions, learning the associated skills and techniques that link to the Introduction to Chemistry module. You’ll also be able to practice academic skills through an independent research project and associated presentation.
There will also be a short multiple choice quiz, allowing you to demonstrate your knowledge.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
