Developing Children’s Curiosity in Words, Numbers and Shapes (X6621)
15 credits, Level 4
Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll explore theories and approaches to teaching and learning english and maths. You’ll examine the underlying principles, ensuring all children can access learning and thrive during their primary education and beyond.
You’ll learn different strategies for teaching, learning and assessment, reflecting on your own understanding and attitudes towards both subjects. You’ll also be encouraged to consider children’s attitudes towards them, questioning how they’re shaped by factors like educational policy, family influences and the media; and how they can be changed.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
