Social Work Practice across the Life Course (L5094)
45 credits, Level 5
Autumn teaching
On this module, you’ll gain a comprehensive and robust overview of social work practice across the lifespan. This encompasses social work with children and families, adults and the transition across the lifecourse.
You’ll further develop and contextualise what you’ve learnt so far, deepening your understanding of:
- policy contexts
- legislative frameworks
- relevant theories that underpin ethical, effective social work practice.
Relational, trauma-informed, anti-racist and anti-oppressive values and practices guide the module. Throughout, you’ll prepare to enter your first field placement in the spring term.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
