Research and Professional Skills II: Zoology & Ecology (X2103)

15 credits, Level 5

Spring teaching

This interdisciplinary module aims to develop your independent research skills and consolidate your ability to analyse and communicate science effectively.

You’ll work in a student-led team on a topic of your choice. As you investigate, you’ll build your research skills through independent study. Computer and field practicals will further develop your sampling and advanced analytical skills, building on previous modules. You’ll also take part in a careers-focused session on entrepreneurship.

The module will prepare you for your final year and help you build the skills to stand out in your professional career.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
