Animals in Their World: From Physiology to Behaviour (C7144)

Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll examine how an animal’s morphology and physiology adapt to their environment and ecology.

You’ll discover how vertebrates and invertebrates:

• overcome problems of energy supply
• regulate water balance and temperature
• sense their environment and move through it.

You’ll explore:

• morphological features and physiological systems
• how solutions can be similar in distantly related animals
• how they diverge in closely related species.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
