Foundations in Clinical Psychology and Research Methods (C8501)

This module will provide you with an introduction to clinical psychology. You’ll critically consider theory and research evidence concerning potential causes of different mental health disorders, and how they are diagnosed and treated.

While quantitative research evidence will commonly be referred to on the module, qualitative research illustrating first-hand experiences of people with mental health disorders will also be considered. This will help deepen your knowledge and understanding of the topics covered.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
