Performance Workshop (W3047)

Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll develop your performance practice in both solo and ensemble settings. You’ll build solo repertoire, form ensembles and collaboratively decide on material to perform.
Key areas of exploration include:
- performance communication and listening skills
- repertoire selection
- rehearsal techniques
- performance preparation and expressivity
- critical perspectives on solo and ensemble practice.
You’ll approach the idea of an ensemble broadly, encompassing formats such as:
- string quartets
- vocal trios
- jazz bands
- folk groups
- rock or pop bands
- electronic groups.
You don’t need to read notated music and you’re encouraged to draw on your unique musical background.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
