Film & TV Project Development (P4168)

Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll develop a narrative short film, documentary or television project. Emphasising storytelling, visual language and professional practice, you’ll explore:
- character
- structure
- genre
- format.
Through lectures and workshops, you’ll:
- refine scripts
- develop pitch documents
- create visual plans
- prepare for production
- explore key aspects of budgeting, financing and collaborative workflows essential to professional screen production.
Research into the story’s environment, such as its cultural, historical, social or geographical context, will inform creative decisions and enhance authenticity.
You’ll produce a complete project package, including a trailer or teaser suitable for pitching your concept or applying for a key production role. The module develops transferable skills in:
- communication
- project management
- creative problem-solving.
This supports employability across the creative industries and beyond.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
