Research Methods in Molecular Genetics and Biochemistry (C7011)

15 credits, Level 4

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll explore a variety of biochemical and molecular genetics techniques crucial to biomedical research.

As well as learning the theory, you’ll gain hands-on laboratory experience of some of these techniques. You’ll also develop an ability to analyse experimental datasets using appropriate statistical tests.

You’ll gain insights into ‘real world’ examples where these methods have been used to provide new biological insights.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.

We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
