Autumn teaching

On this module, you’ll gain industry-relevant skills in visual storytelling for professional media production. Focusing on how to shoot with the edit in mind, the module develops a strong understanding of:

  • shot types
  • camera angles
  • composition.

These support clear and impactful narratives.

You’ll engage with key concepts such as:

  • visual coverage
  • spatial coherence
  • sequencing

You’ll do this through practical, real-world production exercises. This hands-on approach supports the development of creative and technical skills relevant to a range of roles in film, television and digital content production.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 55 hours of contact time and about 245 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
