Spring teaching

The module explores how drama, theatre and performance reflect and effect social change. You’ll think about the relationship of the individual and the community in relation to wider social or institutional structures.

The module brings together historical perspectives about drama, theatre and performance and urgent issues in the present. Key skills you’ll gain include:

  • working with theatre texts
  • historical understanding
  • critical analysis about social and cultural change.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology.
