The Chemistry of stable, unstable and non-existent inorganic compounds (859C1)
15 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Autumn teaching
This module explores the latest advances in the chemistry of heavy main group elements. It is based on recent findings in the subject, combining lectures with directed and independent reading, class discussion and critical review of the literature. Lectures will deal with strategies for the synthesis and application of reactive and exotic main-group compounds and ligands, and the conceptual treatments and theories used to explain and guide their study. The formal lectures will be augmented with in-class discussions and problem-solving exercises.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2019/20. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
