Reflecting on Professional Knowledge in Early Years (with EYTS) (16401X)

Spring teaching

On this module, you’ll integrate both University and School-based learning. You’ll cover current developments, initiatives and professional issues in education. You’ll then critically reflect on the intersection between:

• theoretical positions
• your own classroom practice and observations
• the guidance offered by expert colleagues.

You’ll have the opportunity to explore issues and ideas with tutors, as well as peer-learning situations. You’ll gain access to a range of online pedagogic materials and references to guide you, with clearly defined learning outcomes and exemplars.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 20 hours of contact time and about 280 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.

We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2026/27. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
