Queer Worlds: Sexualities, Knowledge, Affect (032IDS)
30 credits, Level 7 (Masters)
Spring teaching
On this module, you’ll be introduced to queer theory and praxis from a global perspective. You'll apply theories to real-world concerns, including:
- global health
- climate change
- migration
- transgender equality.
You’ll also critically analyse the issues that arise when the queer community is positioned as a subject of research, policy, law, or intervention.
The module introduces different ways of understanding our reality through “worlding,” and examines how multiple world theories affect international development, anthropology, politics, and activism.
You'll be encouraged to think critically about how sexual and gender minorities are represented around the world, and how issues like race, disability and crip theory, social status and culture are connected.
