Lure - Joe Shale, Lewis Kerr, Oliver Lee and Dlyan Andrews

Norfolk, 1958. Two brothers, Jonah and Peter go fishing on an ill-fated day and accidentally awaken an ancient supernatural presence. After a devasting shipwreck, Jonah washes ashore, apparently unhurt except for a rope tied to his leg leading towards the waves. Jonah must raise the alarm in the town to save his younger brother, presumably still lost at sea. However, the ocean has other plans at play.

Golden - Sofia Piletto, Cerys Bye and Ross Johnsto

Victoria is an ambitious young girl. Aged 13, she is a successful elite gymnast whose centre of life is grounded in the sport. On the eve of her biggest competion to date, she battles with the prospect of a life outside of gymnastics. Her realisation comes as a result of a decade of rigorous “training” at the hands of her coach, her own mother, whose centre of life happens to be “perfection”. As she comes to reject her life and future career, on the brink of a breakdown, her mother’s obsession with Victoria’s “dreams” unravels before her eyes.

Golden is a quasi-autobiographical film. With over a decade’s worth of experience, the writer and director, Sofia Piletto, comes from an elite gymnastics background and has written Golden in the context of recent media coverage that has been bringing to light the darker sides of the sport of gymnastics in the UK.

The Willow Weaver - Marianne Carney, Sonny Black and Yang Yang

In a world where craft is dominated by polymer, acrylics, and glitter glue, Emma Parkins demonstrates the charm of the willow tree. From a small studio in the Peak District hills, where bundles of branches line the walls, Emma soaks her home-grown willow in a retired pig trough. Winding each branch around another, the resulting form takes a texture like no other.
