The Annual Conference of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES) is a three day event that brings together prominent scholars, publishers, diplomats, non-governmental organisations, and the press to highlight areas of research and share information related to the Middle East.
Meeting theme: The Middle East in global perspective: Interactions across time and space
Plenary sessions include a keynote address by Professor Asef Bayat (University of Illinois) and a roundtable discussion with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Wednesday 18 June with the title: A Question of Impact: Increasing Engagement between Academics and Policy Makers.
The conference aslo involves:
A Buffet Dinner and Drink Reception (Main Foyer, Jubilee Building) and the Screening of the Moroccan film SOFIA followed by discussion about filmmaking in the region (Jubilee Lecture Theatre) on Monday evening 6 June.
