Join the Sex Diss Film Club for a screening of Toshio Matsumoto’s Funeral Parade of Roses (1969) on Wednesday 4th February, 4-6pm in Silverstone 309.
Set in the underground gay culture of 1960s Tokyo, Funeral Parade of Roses is a loose adaptation of Oedipus Rex in which a gay son kills his mother and sleeps with his father.
The screening will be preceded by an introduction by Charlie Failla, who is a PhD student in English and is doing his thesis on Oedipal narratives in Japanese literature.
We will be heading to IDS Bar for a discussion after the screening.
