The Sussex Africa Centre builds on the University of Sussex’s long history of engagement with the African continent through:
Interdisciplinary research
We bring together expertise from the social sciences, environmental sciences, humanities, Brighton and Sussex Medical School and the Institute of Development Studies.
International partnerships
We have strong partnerships with organisations across Africa and regularly welcome African scholars to speak at Sussex.
We engage not only with the African continent but also African diasporic communities in the UK and elsewhere.
The Sussex Africa Centre community is comprised of academic and professional services staff and postgraduate research students at Sussex.
Our members conduct cutting-edge research into various topics across disciplines and departments on the continent of Africa.
