Biography
Rossana Dowsett works in Research and Enterprise as a Strategic Projects Manager supporting strategic initiatives. Her more most recent project is the establishment of a Joint Clinical Research Office to support academics, clinicians, and existing support staff along the research pathway of undertaking clinical research. This is a joint intiative supported by the Universities of Sussex and of Brighton, the Brighton and Sussex Universities Hospital Trust, and the Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.
Previously (until September 2018), Ross was the the Head of Research Development, one of five teams in Research and Enterprise at the University of Sussex. The Research Development team spans research support, internal research initiatives (pump-prime funding, sandpit events etc), consultancy, and economic development. In previous roles in Research and Enterprise, Rossana developed the University’s ethics framework, and was part of the team that developed and implemented costing and pricing systems for TRAC/FEC. However, her first role in Research and Enterprise, was in support of the EU’s RTD Framework Programmes (IV!). She is actively involved in various professional research networks, most notably ARMA (Association of Research Managers and Administrators), where she was Treasurer from 2003 – 2006, and was part of the ARMA working group that established a suite of professional accreditation for research managers and adminitrators.
Before joining the University sector, Rossana working in the private sector as a Business Systems Analyst, and prior to that worked in London local government for 10 years. She speaks French and Italian, is a qualified Systems Project Manager, and has undertaken various accredited legal training workshops in Intellectual Property Rights and contractual drafting.
