Biography
Professor Jing Gu is a Senior Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. Her research focuses on China’s role in global development and the changing relationships between emerging economies and countries in Africa and the wider Global South.
Her work examines Chinese development policy and practice, international development cooperation, development finance, China–Africa relations, South–South cooperation, investment and business partnerships, and the role of emerging powers in global development. She is particularly interested in how governments, businesses and development institutions interact, and in the implications of these relationships for inclusive and sustainable development.
Jing contributes to postgraduate teaching and supervision in international development. She welcomes enquiries from prospective students interested in China and global development, China–Africa relations, emerging powers, South–South cooperation, development policy and international political economy.
