Biophysics and physiology of sensory transduction in hair cells of the mammalian inner ear. Current research focuses on two areas:
- Mechano-electrical transduction in normal and mutant auditory hair cells, with a view of determining the contribution of key molecules, such as myosin VIIa and PMCA2, to the transduction process.
- A study of changes in the signalling properties of developing cochlear hair cells to try and find clues about functional development of the auditory system.
