Climates of Empire: Environmental Historians in Conversation with Climate Change Researchers
Thursday 26 June 9:00 until 18:30
University of Sussex Campus : Arts A108 and Zoom
Speaker: John McNeill, Lachlan Fleetwood, Annu Jalais, Debjani Bhattacharya, Nayanika Mathur
Climates of Empire will start a fresh conversation between environmental historians and climate change researchers. While environmental change from the early modern period will be central to the discussion, their implications and interpretations for contemporary climate change research and thinking will be at the heart of deliberations. The conference, in essence, intends to explore how the themes of environmental change, global environmentalism, climate change, and debates on the Anthropocene can yield new understandings of our current existential dilemmas.
