Help encourage students to share feedback in spring Module Evaluation Questionnaires (MEQs)

Achieving a good response rate for MEQs is essential to making the feedback robust. That’s why we are asking for help from teaching staff to raise awareness and ensure we achieve a good response rate. Please read the information below and give a couple of minutes to encouraging your students to complete the MEQs in class where you can.
MEQs for all students will launch on Monday 13 April and close on Friday 1 May. They will run the same way across all parts of the University:
- As last semester, students don’t need to select their course or module as part of the survey - they are added to all of their modules automatically.
- Students will receive a personalised email on Monday 13 April inviting them to complete the MEQs (with a link) for their modules.
- Each module Canvas site has a link called ‘Module Evaluations’ (left-hand navigation sidebar) which students can click on to access MEQs - this gives students a choice in how they can access their surveys.
- Module convenors have access to the Survey Instructor Portal here: https://sussex.evasysplus.co.uk and will find module surveys here when launched. This enables convenors to see the current response rate for their module/s and encourage uptake. Student comments are also available during the survey window, for immediate action where relevant. Access to the results will be available as soon as the survey closes. This means no delays in getting the feedback to staff.
Module convenors will also receive an email on Monday 13 April to let you know that the survey for your module has opened and giving guidance on using the Instructor Portal to view your surveys. The request for tutors is to please encourage your students to complete the MEQs and give time in class for it where you can (they only take 2-4 mins to complete).
You can do this by either:
- directing students to your module's Canvas site ‘Module Evaluations’ where they will find a link to the survey.
- advising students that this single link will take them to all of their module surveys: https://sussex.surveys.evasysplus.co.uk/.
- using this slide to show in class (click the link to download). This contains the survey link above and a QR code which will take students to a dedicated portal to complete their surveys.
