Intellectual Property: Copyright and Related Rights (M5076)

You’ll examine aspects of copyright law, related rights, and unregistered and registered designs.
You’ll be introduced to the principles of intellectual property law and its philosophical and economic justifications. You’ll also look at in-depth analysis of particular issues in the law and policy of intellectual property, such as internet 'piracy'.
The focus of the module will be on UK law and policy, but reference will be made to EU and international law where relevant.

Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 20 hours of contact time and about 130 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
