Reading Art History: Critical Texts (V3020)

Autumn teaching

This module looks in-depth at some of the methods of study that have shaped the discipline of art history, and debates that have influenced the nature of art history. The module will cover a variety of dominant methods and influences on the current discipline of art history, such as iconology, feminist theory, post-colonialism, semiotics, and/or the social history of art.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 150 hours of work. This breaks down into about 22 hours of contact time and about 128 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
