The Journey and Destination of Black Refugees
event image
When: Monday 26 October, 10:30–11:45 Led by: We Are The Tree CIC
Description: Many people assume that once refugees arrive on UK soil, their journey is over and they have reached their destination. In reality, arrival is often only the beginning, and the hurdles that follow are rarely talked about or are misrepresented.
In this session, We Are The Tree presents a short film followed by a talk that challenges these common misconceptions. The talk looks at the journey refugees continue to make after arriving in the UK and the barriers they face along the way.
We Are The Tree is a Sussex-based, diaspora-led organisation led by people with lived experience. It supports refugees and migrants through community connection, wellbeing support, leadership development and advocacy.
