Think everyone’s going wild on nights out? Think again.
We flipped the classic “Never Have I Ever” to get real about what Sussex students are actually doing when it comes to drinking alcohol - and the results might surprise you.
Here’s what we found:
- 68.5% of students chose not to drink on a night out
- Around 90% respected a friend’s drinking boundaries
- 65.6% set a personal drinking limit before heading out
It turns out, way more Sussex students are making smart, mindful choices than you’d think.
And that’s not all - students are finding plenty of ways to pace themselves and stay in control:
- 79.2% decided to have water between drinks
- Around 81% made sure to line their stomach before drinking
- 1 in 4 students kept tabs on their units throughout the night
Here are some useful resources in case you ever need urgent support
- In an emergency, always call 999. If you are on campus then call 999 first then security on 01273 873333
- Ask for Angela - if you feel unsafe in a bar - ask the people serving for Angela and they will discretely get you out of the venue
- Safe Space is open 23:30-04:00 on Fridays and Saturdays in St. Paul's Church if you are vulnerable/ distressed to receive help, support, first aid, water or to use a phone charger.
This Halloween, make it about fun, friends, and feeling good!
