We Are Still Here: Voices from Gaza’s Student
We Are Still Here: Voices from Gaza’s Student
Join us for an afternoon of readings, conversation and connection with Gaza, Palestine, exploring the experiences, creativity and resilience of its student generation.
The event will include a live link-up with Gaza, providing an update on the students and ongoing work of We Are Still Here, a project supporting students and their families amid the devastation in Gaza. Hear directly from artists in Gaza whose work featured in the recent Lewes Art for Palestine exhibition, offering an opportunity to encounter their experiences and perspectives through art and creative expression.
The programme will also include readings, an introduction to Professor Zahid Pranjol’s new book, and an audience Q&A.
About We Are Still Here
We Are Still Here was founded in direct response to the devastating impact of the war on Gaza’s students, families and communities. Led by Professor Zahid Pranjol, alongside a dedicated team in Gaza, Sussex University and across the UK, the project provides psychological, financial and educational support to students and their families.
Beginning with the sharing of teaching materials and online mentorship, the project has developed in response to the needs and experiences of students themselves. As the team listened to what students were writing and sharing, it became clear that their voices needed to reach a wider audience. We Are Still Here brings together support for students with a commitment to sharing their stories, creativity and experiences with the world.
This event offers an opportunity to hear those voices, learn more about the project's ongoing work and show solidarity with Gaza's student generation.
