Electrifying the future: political economy of the UK’s EV policy sequencing
Abstract:
The study examines the UK’s EV policy evolution by employing the process tracing method. It finds that the UK's EV policy has changed significantly over the years from being primarily demand-focused, incentive-based, and oriented toward niche creation to focusing on supply-side, regime-destabilizing measures like ICE ban and ZEV mandates. The policy-politics-technology feedbacks underlying the UK’s EV policy evolution is useful for critically examining the key postulates of policy sequencing framework and policy feedback concept.
