We are pleased to announce that the University will offer a staff flu vaccination programme this winter through Heales Medical, our Occupational Health provider. 

Due to a manufacturing and supply delay affecting flu vaccine availability in the UK, Heales Medical has advised that the earliest vaccination clinics are expected to take place from late November. 

We wanted to let staff know about this as early as possible so that everyone can make informed choices about their winter flu vaccination. 

If you are eligible for an NHS flu vaccination 

The NHS recommends that people eligible for a free flu vaccination receive it as early as possible ahead of the winter flu season (in autumn or winter). 

If you are eligible for an NHS flu vaccination, particularly if you are in a higher-risk group, we encourage you to book through your GP practice, community pharmacy or another NHS vaccination service, rather than waiting for the University's programme. 

This includes people who:

• are aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2027)
• are aged 18 to 64 and have certain long-term health conditions
• are pregnant
• live in a care home
• are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
• live with someone who has a weakened immune system
• are experiencing homelessness or staying in a homeless hostel or night shelter
