Sussex AI researchers join leading experts from academia, industry and government to explore the future of intelligent robotics.
ARIA is the UK's Advanced Research and Invention Agency, established to fund ambitious, high-risk, high-reward research with the potential to deliver transformative scientific and technological breakthroughs for society. It brings together leading researchers to tackle some of the UK's most pressing technological challenges.
During the workshop, participants worked in multidisciplinary teams to develop robotic solutions for real-world challenges across a range of sectors, including offshore wind turbine and oil and gas infrastructure inspection, agriculture, nuclear power, and other environments where robots could improve safety, productivity and resilience.
Drawing on Sussex's expertise in AI, adaptive behaviour, navigation and sensing in robotics, Andy and Dexter contributed their knowledge to discussions on how intelligent robotic systems can navigate complex environments, collaborate effectively with people, and operate robustly in demanding real-world conditions. The event provided an opportunity to share research insights while helping shape future directions for UK robotics innovation.
