The University of Sussex has risen seven places to 36th in the UK, and two places to fourth in the South East in The Complete University Guide (2027), which has been published today (2 June). In the subject rankings, Sussex has three subjects, Childhood and Youth Studies, American Studies, and Education in the top ten. The University has risen in all but one of the key metrics where new data was available.
The Complete University Guide is published annually, and its publication is timed to help prospective undergraduate students make last minute choices on which university to join and, where relevant, assist them through the Clearing choices available. Its methodology focuses primarily on assessing teaching quality, student satisfaction and graduate outcomes.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil, said: “It is very pleasing to see Sussex continue our upward momentum in this year’s Complete University Guide, building on the smaller rise we saw last year and the year before. Our position this year is our highest since 2020, and reflects the continued hard work and energy being dedicated by colleagues across the University to improving our students’ experience at Sussex.
"At a crucial time of year, when potential students are confirming their choices and we are looking towards Clearing in July and August, this improvement in ranking is very helpful. I am particularly glad to see three subjects in the top 10 and I extend my congratulations to everyone involved in delivering these results. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has contributed to enhancing every aspect of our students’ educational experience, and to all those who support our students in preparing confidently for their futures after graduation.”
