The deadline for the Sussex Awards has been extended to midnight on Sunday 22 February. This gives our busy staff and students an extra week to submit nominations in our annual awards programme.
The Sussex Awards was launched last year, bringing together previous awards programmes into one place to recognise the brilliant work of our staff, student and postgraduate researcher (PGR) community.
Last year our winners came from across the breadth of our community, including the Global Studies Neurodivergent Working Group, and the Write Club – differing groups in two different Faculties, both aimed at providing supportive environments for teaching and research. Researchers in the Material Physics Group were awarded for their pioneering partnership research which has resulted in the development of nanomaterial technologies delivering benefits across multiple industries. And Chay Burt, coach of the University men’s football team, won an award for inspiring players throughout their university experience.
Picking up an award as part of the Sussex Universe team last year, Professor Stephen Wilkins, from the School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, said after the ceremony: “It’s great that Sussex Universe got this University recognition. Sussex Universe started as a student-led society…now we have this wonderful support from the Professional Services team, and we’ve expanded over that time…it’s great to share the wonderful research we do at the University with as many people as we can.”
See more information on last year’s winners.
Everyone who is nominated for an award will be notified and those shortlisted will be invited to a very special ceremony on Monday 27 April at the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts on campus.
