How to Access Sexual Health Support
The Brighton and Hove Sexual Health and Contraception (SHAC) is a free and confidential service available to everyone. To raise awareness about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) testing week, they are visiting Free Wednesdays in the Students’ Union on Wednesday 19 November from 12pm to 2pm in Falmer House offering test kits and contraception.
November 17 to 23 November 2025 marks STI testing week which has the aim of normalising testing and encouraging people to tes. However, you can request, at any time, with an at-home testing service if your post code starts with: BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN4 to test for chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV.
You can pick up STI testing kits from pharmacies, the Health Centre and the Student Centre and the vending machine in Falmer House (where the Students’ Union is).
In Brighton & Hove and East Sussex, we have "the C Card". This allows for under 25s to pick up free condoms at most pharmacies, including the one on campus. You can access this by downloading the app and requesting condoms.
You should test between each partner and routinely every 3-6 months. It is also worth noting that different STIs have different incubation periods which you will need to ensure have passed to test for each infection accurately.
