Car Parking Permits 2025/26 update
Posted on behalf of: Better Campus
Last updated: Monday, 18 August 2025

Applications for Parking Permits for the year 2025/26 will now open on Monday 1 September.
To give everyone time to renew their permit, permits for the year 2024/25 will be extended by 1 month – they will now expire on Tuesday 30 September. More details on how to renew your permit will be shared soon.
Away in September? No problem
There is no limit on the number of staff permits available, and no deadline for renewing your permit, so don’t worry if you’re away during September – you'll just need to make sure that you have renewed your permit before parking on campus so that you can continue to access staff parking prices.
Permit portal temporary closure
The University’s self-service paperless parking portal will be closed from Monday 25 August until Sunday 31 August whilst we undertake maintenance and prepare for the new academic year. If you need to alter your permit during that week, e.g. to change or add a vehicle, please contact the Transport Office.
Choosing a staff parking permit
There are two main permits for staff on campus:
Pay As You Go (PAYG) Permit: This permit gives you access to reduced rate parking prices. With this permit, parking costs £3 per day, Monday to Sunday, between 8am and 5pm - parking is free outside of these hours if you have a valid PAYG permit. An admin fee of £30 is applicable to this permit.
Annual Parking Permit: This permit allows you to park on campus 24/7 and is inclusive of admin fees. The following pricing applies for the permit year 2025/26 and is reduced pro-rata compared to FTE:
- Salary Grades 1-5: £360 per year (£30 per month)
- Salary Grades 6-8: £444 per year (£37 per month)
- Salary Grades 9-10: £540 per year (£45 per month)
Blue Badge Holder: If you hold a valid Blue Badge, you can park on campus for free and do not need a permit. Just make sure that you have registered your vehicle with the Transport Office in advance of parking on campus so that your vehicle can be recorded as being exempt of charges and fines.
