In line with the University of Sussex's commitment to fostering innovative academic approaches, Denis Ouma, the first-ever recipient of the Chevening Scholarship for online study, has achieved a milestone. His success highlights the immense potential and triumph of online distance learning, also marking a significant recognition of the university’s exceptional distance learning programs.
The Chevening Scholarship, known for identifying exceptional individuals with leadership potential, not only celebrates the student’s success but also highlights the university's commitment to nurturing talent irrespective of geographical boundaries. This is a testament to Denis's commitment to learning and the university's efforts in making quality education accessible to all.
Katie Piatt, Head of Educational Enhancement, said, “It's an honour to have a Chevening scholar accepted onto one of our Sussex Online Distance Learning courses. This really recognises the great networking opportunities that our courses can give to working professionals. We're proud of the flexible model for these courses to make UK Postgraduate study possible for students all around the world.”
The University is currently celebrating its 5th year with a portfolio of 10 courses including Master’s degrees, PG Cert, PG Dip and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses. We’ve enrolled over 2500 students, with 142 nationalities represented, ages ranging from 20 - 80 years old. So far, 841 students have graduated, with our numbers steadily increasing.
