The Students’ Union organises lots of fun events for Freshers. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends when you start University.
Do your research when buying tickets for Freshers ’to make sure you know what you’re purchasing. Events run by and officially affiliated with the Students' Union are student-friendly and low cost. For events unaffiliated to the Students' Union and University of Sussex, unfortunately the Students’ Union will not be able to offer refunds, or deal with complaints directly, but they can offer advice if you need support.
Your Students’ Union encourages you to stay vigilant during Freshers. The ONLY events officially run by the Students' Union can be found on the Students’ Union website and their official Box Office is based on the ground floor of Falmer House.
You will NEVER be approached on a Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp or Snapchat group chat or private message to buy tickets by staff at the Students' Union, nor will they arrange to meet you to pick up tickets around campus.
NO member of Students' Union staff will enter your accommodation at any time. If you are concerned about external promoters accessing your kitchens, please contact security on 01273 678234, or your building manager.
There are lots of official Freshers’ events for you to choose from. From barbeques, film screening and karaoke, to Brighton walking tours, live music events and, of course, Freshers’ Fair where you can explore the wide range of societies and sport clubs available to you this year. Check the Freshers programme on the Students’ Union website.
And don’t miss out on the activities the University has organised for Welcome Week! You should receive an email soon from your School with more details.
The list of the University’s official events can be found on the Student Hub.
