The Meeting House has been an iconic feature of the campus since its completion in 1966. Designed by Scottish architect Basil Spence, this structure was intended to be a welcoming space for all, and it came to life through a beautiful display of colour and light. The building includes a 350-seat interdenominational chapel, and its multi-coloured glass panels, hand-blown in Germany, are an essential and striking aspect of the overall design.
The Meeting House holds significant historical and cultural importance on campus, which is why its preservation is crucial. As the campus recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, certain aspects of the Meeting House require some attention. Beginning on Tuesday 9 May, work will commence for 2 weeks on the south side of the building, starting with the installation of scaffolding to facilitate investigative work and repairs. In preparation for this, the moat is currently being drained.
These renovations are part of a broader effort to improve our campus, and we are excited to see the Meeting House restored to its former glory.
