At the heart of the value of a Sussex education is our curriculum. It’s a primary reason why our students choose to study here – making life-changing decisions based on the disciplines, subjects and course content we offer. Students know that the curriculum is instrumental to them in achieving their academic potential and having good employment prospects. We also know it is a major factor in the satisfaction of students.

It is for these reasons that following agreement at the recent Education Committee on Wednesday 26 October, the ‘Curriculum Reimagined’ programme has been launched. This is our opportunity to create a curriculum that builds on our strengths and will ensure we can meet the needs of students, staff and employers for years to come.

The Curriculum Reimagined is an important component of the Learn to Transform strategy – which has aims: to ensure that studying at Sussex is a life-changing experience for every student – and to put students at the heart of their educational experience by providing them with the agency to participate in ‘everything that we do’.

We want your views

The programme will enable all students and staff to give their opinion on the Sussex curriculum to a steering group consisting of PS and Academic colleagues, trades union and Students’ Union representatives to ensure the widest possible representation.

We are at the early stages of the work streams and would like to seek your views on both what you would like to see included in Curriculum Reimagined as well as what things are working well and should not be included in Curriculum Reimagined. For those of you who have been part of school level curriculum reviews, we would value your insights on what we should or should not do at institutional level.

Your feedback will provide valuable insights that can be explored by the Steering Group which will then report back to staff in the new year with their findings and the next steps and ways in which you can involved.
