The first Education and Innovation Fund will launch on 21 October 2022. The £50,000 fund is part of our Learn to Transform strategy and will help provide resources to advance the Pedagogic Revolution at Sussex.  

The initiative aims to drive positive changes in the way we deliver our teaching and learning experience by stimulating student and staff co-creation, and rewarding innovation and teaching excellency.   

This academic year’s awards will favour projects that prioritise NSS, assessments, feedback and the student voice.  

Staff members will be able to apply for up to £5,000 per individual project. This could involve purchasing new equipment, hiring a doctoral tutor or a student to support the initiative, or using the funding to scale up an existing project so it has a wider impact within the university, and they can be collaborations of up to four people.  

Applying is quite easy. Speak with your Academic Developer, who will be able to provide you with guidance and advice about the project, and complete this simple online application form. 

Kelly Coate, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Students, said: 

“I’m so pleased to launch this exciting new Sussex initiative designed to help support those involved in teaching and learning to help deliver on the aims of our ‘Learn to Transform’ strategy. We’re particularly looking for projects that innovate and enhance the methods and content of the academic feedback we provide to students or activities that will amplify the student voice. What is more, we’ve ensured that it’s a very easy process for those interested in applying.”

“The Education and Innovation Fund will help colleagues with developing new and exciting teaching and learning ideas, and enable collaboration with other colleagues and students to generate university-wide initiatives. While the awards will fund specific projects, we hope the outcomes and resources they generate will benefit our community as a whole and pave the way for a Pedagogic Revolution at Sussex.” 

The first round of applications for the Education and Innovation Fund closes on 18 November.
