Paula Ogun Hector

We’re delighted to share some exciting updates from artist Paula Ogun Hector, following her involvement with Black at Sussex.

Paula has been longlisted for the Susan Angoy category of the Women in Art Prize. Susan Angoy, who sits on the University of Sussex Council and attended Paula’s Black at Sussex lecture, has been a supporter of the programme, making this recognition a particularly welcome connection.

Paula will also be running a series of free, drop-in family workshops on 21–22 August as part of the Family Festival of Caribbean Culture at London Museum Docklands. The workshops offer families an opportunity to take part in creative activity celebrating Caribbean culture.

Looking ahead to September, Paula’s five tapestries are due to be exhibited at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre from 8–30 September, with an opening event provisionally planned for Tuesday 8 September, 6–9pm. Further details will be confirmed once arrangements are finalised.

It is wonderful to see Paula’s work continuing to reach new audiences and gain recognition beyond Sussex, building on the conversations and creative connections developed through Black at Sussex.
