Everyone is invited to join the upcoming Forest Food Garden volunteering sessions on campus. These hands-on sessions are a great opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn about food growing, and contribute to a thriving community space at the University of Sussex.

Whether you’re interested in sustainability, curious about growing food, or simply looking for a way to spend time outdoors, everyone is welcome – no experience needed.

These sessions are open to both students and staff and are part of a year-round programme of volunteering opportunities in the garden.

You’ll be working alongside Paul, our practical garden tutor, gaining hands-on experience while helping maintain this unique campus growing space.

What to bring

To take part in the sessions, please bring:

• Secateurs, shears, or loppers (if you have them – tools can also be provided)
• Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear
• Water and sunscreen
• Gardening gloves (spares available)

Some wellies and waterproofs are also available to borrow if needed.

How to get involved

You’re welcome to drop in for part or all of a session, whatever works for you.
